Combining the most up to date educational programmes with an extensive teaching experience, the syllabus at the Music School of Meath is unique and carefully designed to provide the highest quality education for the very young beginner through to students at an advanced level in their musical journey.

The exclusive teaching material developed in-house and used in the early stages of musical education at the Music School of Meath has been specifically developed with age appropriate material in order to ensure strong foundations for later learning. Alongside individual musical development, the school also prepares children for the Royal Irish Academy of Music graded examination system, where pupils have consistently achieved exceptional results.

Music School of Meath has been responsible for the musical education of over one thousand children from Meath and its surrounding counties. Some of our students, now young adults, have gone on to successfully pursue careers in music. For all, music has been an integral part of their intellectual and emotional development.

Director's Profile:

Séadna Franklin BMus, LGSM, LLCM, ARCM, ARIAM is the founding director of Ceolscoil na Mí.

Séadna started his musical education at the age of four at the Royal Irish Academy of Music where he studied piano and violin. At the age of twelve he was awarded a Schola Cantorum music scholarship to study at St. Finian’s College, Mullingar. Always a high achiever, Séadna took part in many national competitions where he was a multiple prize winner. He was awarded his first diplomas in piano and violin teaching in 1993 and 1994, respectively. During his degree in Music at University College Cork, Séadna was awarded numerous other associate and licentiate teaching diplomas from several musical institutions in the United Kingdom, including the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the London College of Music.

Having been awarded a Finnish government scholarship in 1997, Séadna’s passion for music education took him to Helsinki, Finland to embark on a course of piano pedagogy and performance under Ms. Arja Sours-Rannanmaki at the Ita-Helsingin Musiikiopisto. Here he was introduced to the Kodály principles of music education which he later mastered at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, Hungary.
Séadna is particularly interested in the development of music education in Ireland. He has been a frequent speaker at various workshops for professional bodies including the European Piano Teacher's Association, the European String Teacher's Association and the Kodály Society of Ireland. He joined the panel of Local Centre examiners at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2001 and has been examining for the RIAM on a regular basis since then.
