Shortt’s at 10/11 John Street, Waterford, was established by brother and sister Michael and Valerie Shortt in summer 2011 and in a relatively short period of time has become the city’s liveliest destination for lovers of live music, club DJs and that magic ingredient…guaranteed atmosphere.

Entry through the Shortt’s front door allows access to 3 rooms of quality FREE entertainment, all serviced by their own bar. Shortt’s weekly entertainment can be summarised as follows:

The Bar – 7 nights a week you will find top quality live acts taking to the Shortt’s stage at 11.30pm. With residencies by some of the country’s top cover bands (The Pearly Whites, Papa Zitas, Thank Funk, The Unusual Suspects, The Jam Tarts, The Saucebirds, Lebowski , Simon & Co., Little Waits and more), you are always guaranteed a rockin atmosphere at Shortt’s from Monday right through to our legendary Sunday Session. The Bar also hosts occasional early gigs (8pm doors) by some of the country’s top original bands (Walking On Cars, O Emperor, The Dead Heavys, The Answer, Hermitage Green). The Terrace – Shortt’s smoking area has taken on a life of it’s own over the last 2 years and is now ‘THE place’ to go to for your weekend fill of soul, disco, funk & house. Disco Coco (Thur), City Vibes (Fri) and The Social (Sun) are weekly events while on Saturday nights a rotating cast of top club nights (I Play Disco, Soul Kitchen, Good Times, Get Down Edits) keep the Terrace dancefloor full til the early hours.

Halo Cocktail Bar & Club – Halo is the newest addition to Shortt’s and is found at the top of the building past the DJ Booth in The Bar, opening every Saturday night. Our top mixologist can put your favourite Saturday night cocktail together for just €5 and DJ Stephen Power’s Speaker Boxx Club plays the best of sexy house, urban & chart. Halo is also available for hire for parties, events and clubs.

There is a cloakroom for all patrons between The Bar and Halo.
