The Phelan School of Irish Dancing welcomes children from the age of four years upwards to learn Irish dancing for fun, fitness or competition. Newly established in 2016, Claire and Caitríona look forward to sharing their experience and skills with the children, enabling each child to reach their full potential, in a happy and secure environment.

Claire Phelan is from Malahide and is a primary school teacher. She began Irish dancing with the McKenna School of Irish Dancing at the tender age of four. Having a natural talent and flair for all things musical, Claire quickly rose up through the ranks winning her first All Ireland title at the age of eleven. She continued to win many more prestigious titles during her dancing career, including numerous regional titles, six All Ireland championships and two World titles. With this excellent grounding and strong cultural and musical background behind her Claire retired from competitive dancing in 2016 and established the Phelan School of Irish Dancing along with her sister Caitríona.

Caitríona Phelan is from Malahide and is in her final year in Marino Institute of Education where she is studying primary school teaching. Caitríona also began her Irish dancing career with the McKenna School of Irish Dancing when she was three years of age. Caitríona competed at the highest level in Irish Dancing, winning her first All Ireland title when she was ten years old. Her highlights to date include winning many regional titles, three All Ireland championships and four World titles. Caitríona continues to dance competitively.

Claire and Caitríona share a love of all things Irish and are passionate about Irish dancing. While both love to dance competitively, they also enjoy the performance aspect of Irish dancing and are members of Celtic Dance Fusion, a troupe of Irish dancers highly regarded in the live entertainment market.

Claire and Caitríona look forward to passing on their collective wealth of knowledge and skills in the craft of traditional Irish dancing to many young children, and instilling in them, a love for their Irish culture and heritage.
