Highlight Productions 2.3

Highlight Productions was founded in 2008 by Marie Rooney, who has a wealth of experience in all areas of theatre. As Deputy Director of the Gate Theatre Rooney played a leading role, undertaking many projects from casting to producing to coordinating tours. Notable productions include Juno and the Paycock directed by Joe Dowling, The Beckett Festival and The Pinter Festival. She has worked with such renowned authors as Brian Friel, Harold Pinter and many of the most eminent actors and creatives in the theatre world.

Since leaving the gate and founding Highlight Productions, Rooney has worked with many companies including Irish Theatre Institute, Dance Theatre Ireland, Fishamble: The New Play Company, Lane Productions, Rough Magic Theatre Company and the Dublin Fringe Festival.

For the last four years she has collaborated with director Selina Cartmell (Siren Productions) and has produced award-winning, highly acclaimed productions including The world premiere of Robin Robertson’s version of MEDEA for the Dublin Fringe Festival, THE LULU HOUSE, starring Camille O’Sullivan for the Dublin Theatre Festival and The Making of ‘TIS PITY SHE’S A WHORE.
