Crowd Funding involves a group of people pooling their monies to fund a project.
Crowd Funding is usually done online and can be used to support the development of projects such as company start-ups, software development, artists, journalists or civic projects.

Crowd Funding can also involve a company selling amounts of equity to the funders (investors).

Crowd Funding has its origins in crowd sourcing, where an individual reaches a goal by receiving small contributions from many individuals.

Crowdfunding is the collection of finance by means of small contributions from many people or groups in order to finance a particular project.

Crowd funding models can involve a wide range of participants. They include the individuals that proposed the idea to be funded and the crowd of individuals who subsequently support the proposal. Crowd funding brings together the project owner / initiator and the crowd of supporters.
