'Body Moves, Dance & Movement Education' was set up by Dance Artist, Orla Shine to provide contemporary dance classes to adults, teenagers and children. Orla holds a BA (Hons) in Dance from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Achieving first class honours, she also attained a prestigious award for academic excellence in the contemporary arts department. Since graduating in 2012, Orla has developed as a dance artist through extensive engagement in professional dance practice both as a performer and as a facilitator of dance. Orla continues to develop through her engagement in research and further training.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE CLASS?

Classes for adults:
This enriching contemporary dance based class includes both modern and classical (ballet) techniques. Striving to connect the body and mind through movement, the class focuses on increasing body awareness and improving the alignment of your spine and limbs. Participants are guided through fluid movement sequences that aim to develop co-ordination, balance and rhythm while increasing flexibility, strength and stamina. The class progresses from gentle floor work to energetic dance sequences that travel through space. A variety of music will get you dancing, including popular songs, classical and contemporary music. This dance class is suitable for both males and females with any level of movement and dance experience.

Classes for children:
This contemporary dance based class gives children (boys & girls) the opportunity to be creative and to learn through movement. Young movers are playfully challenged to develop their movement skills through guided dance sequences and through game based movement activity. The class encourages individuality and aims to increase confidence and the ability of each participant. A variety of music will be used to get the fun started.

Classes for Teens:
This contemporary dance class for both male and female teens provides a fun and challenging experience of dance. The class includes floor work, standing work, basic ballet technique and stimulating dance sequences energised by inspiring music. Participation in these classes will increase body awareness, co-ordination, strength, flexibility and stamina. The class promotes a positive sense of self and will increase the confidence and movement ability of each individual.
